Polyfax(skin  Ointment)

External use only

Composition:

Polymixen B sulphhateB.P…………….10,000Units

Bacitracin zinc B.P   ……………………..500 Units

Petrolatum base to…………………….1 G

Indications:

Treament where superfacial skin infection is fresent or likely to occur.

These includes:Polyfexin in birn,graft donor sites, surgical incision,accidental cuts,scratches and abrasion.It is used therapeutically in primary infected dermatoses,such as bacterial otitis externa,ecthyma,folliculitis and paronychia.It is also used in secondarily infected dermatoses,such as infected eczema ,secondarily infected lesion of infedtation(e.gscabies) and secondary bacterial infection accompanying viral infection.It also indicated in the treatment of infected ulcers, accidental cuts,scratches and abrasion,and superficial skin infections following surgical procedures and burns.

Use does not  exclude concomitant systemic therapy  with other antibiotics where appropriate.

Dosage and administration:

It is for topical skin  administration only.

Adult:A thin film of this ointment is applied.It should b applied once or more times,as necessary.

It gives you a soothing effect and act as pain reliever.

Contraindications:

Patients who are hyper sensitive to Polymixen B sulphate,Bacitracin zinc B.P   or cross sensitizing agents.

Warning and precaution:

The prolonged use of this may result in the out grouth of non-susceptible organism,including fungi.the possibility of systemic absorption of the active ingredientexist.

Avoid introduction of ointment into eyes.If it is accidentally introduced into eyes,the eye should be rinced thoroughly with cold water.

Adverse Reaction:

The adverse reactions are reare.but there are some

Application site hypersensitivity including urticarial.

Application site reactions including pain,irrition,edema, burning sensation,erythema,puritis,blisters and skin discolouration.

Overdose:

If toxic symptoms develop following significant systemic absorption of the active ingredient of ointment, treatment  with the product should be stopped.
