SYNFLEX(Naproxen sodium)

 

Naproxen is very popular prescribed drug to the patients.it can be used in a variety of disease conditions and after surgery.it is an NSAID(non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug).

Description

Synflex tablet contain naproxen, which is a proprionic acid derivative related to the aryl acetic acid group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Composition

Each film coated tablet contain:

Naproxen sodium ( USP)……………..550mg

Indications:

Synflex is indicated for the relief of the sign and symptoms of

·         Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, acute gout,ankylosing spondylitis.it is also indicated for the management of pain and primary dysmenorrhea.

·         Musculoskeletal disorder including sprains,strains,direct trauma,cervical spondylitis,fibrositis,synovitis,tenosynositis,lumbago.

·         Post-operative pain.

·         Orthopedic manipulations,dental extractions and surgery.

·         Relief of pain. 

  Mechanism of action   

Naproxen has analgesic,anti-inflammatory  and antipyretic properties. The sodium salt of naproxen is more rapidly absorbed formulation of naproxen for use as an analgesic. The mechanism of action of the naproxen is not completely understood but involves inhibition of cyclooxygenase.

Drug interactions: 

·         Naproxen and anticoagulants have a synergistic effect

·         Not used with aspirin because increased risk of bleeding

·         NSAID reduce the natriuretic effect of loop diuretics.

·         Use of Naproxen with other NSAID may increase the risk of GI toxicity.

·         Concomitant administration of some antacids and sucralfate can delay the absorption of Naproxen.

Adverse reactions:

Gastrointestinal (GI):heart burn,abdominal pain,nausea, vomiting,constipation,diarrhea

CNS:headache,dizziness,drowsiness,vertigo.

General:thirst,anemia,rashes.

Dermatological:pruritus,skin eruption,sweating

Cardiovascular:edema,palpitation
